Terms of Service
The short version: Scam Sentinel is a helpful tool, not a guarantee. It can miss scams and can be wrong, so you are still responsible for your own decisions. Premium is billed by AppleGoogle. Don’t abuse the service.
Accepting these terms
By using Scam Sentinel you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What the service is, and is not
Scam Sentinel helps you evaluate suspicious messages, calls, links, and photos, and teaches you what to look for. It is not a guarantee of safety and it is not legal, financial, or security advice. It can miss a real scam and it can flag something harmless. You remain responsible for your own decisions, including whether to send money, share information, or click a link.
Who can use it
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13. If you create an account you agree to give accurate information and to keep your sign-in secure.
Subscriptions and billing
The free tier includes a limited number of AI checks per day. Premium includes unlimited AI checks and the Sentinel Shield protection features, sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple’s App StoreGoogle Play. There is no free trial and no change in price at renewal; you are charged the price shown. AppleGoogle handles payment, renewal, and cancellation under your Apple AccountGoogle account settings. Manage or cancel anytime in your AppleGoogle Play subscription settings.
We keep a customer-favoring refund policy. Ask within 14 days of a charge and we refund it in full, even if you have used the app. On annual plans after 14 days, we refund the unused months on request. Refunds for store purchases are ultimately handled by AppleGoogle under their policy; if they decline one we believe is fair, contact us and we will make it right.
Acceptable use
Do not poison the scam database with false reports, submit content you have no right to submit, reverse-engineer or overload the service, use it unlawfully, or use it to harass anyone. Abuse (including database poisoning, bulk or automated submissions, or tampering with the app) may result in rate-limiting, suspension, and, for serious or illegal abuse, disclosure to AppleGoogle and law enforcement.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us permission to process it to run the check you asked for, and to derive de-identified scam patterns and indicators that protect other users. Emails you forward to us are kept in full until you delete them, which the Privacy Policy explains in detail. You can delete your checks at any time.
You can send email for checking from any device. Forwarding a suspicious email to our scan address works from a computer, from webmail in a browser, or from another phone or tablet, not only from the device this app is installed on. The result appears in the app either way.
Guardian and Family Circle
If you connect with a guardian, you agree that we may notify them of scam events on your account (time, channel, scam category), and that they may see those events. Either person may end the pairing at any time.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect every scam.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including money lost to a scam we failed to detect.
Third-party services
The app relies on Apple’s platformGoogle’s platform and third-party data providers. We are not responsible for those services’ availability or accuracy. Your use of Apple’sGoogle’s services is governed by Apple’sGoogle’s terms.
Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for abuse or for violating these terms. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Storea Google Play subscription; cancel that in your device settings.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
